Being a stay at home mom with an eleven month old girl, a 4 year old boy and a 5 year old girl, I'm always on the lookout for fun things to do that get them away from the tv. This is stuff that works for us!
Just a couple of notes:
1- I've labled most of these ideas for baby fun and toddler fun because those are what I have. :) Lot of these ideas are great (or can easily be adapted) for older kids. 2- Anything and everything can pose a risk for a child in one way or another. If you use any of these ideas, please supervise your children and do what you know is best for them.
We had fun this morning with some bread. Just take a little milk in some small containers, add a few drops of food coloring to each, get some clean paint brushes, and design away! We then toasted ours, or you can use them to make sandwiches.
I tried this one yesterday, too, with my daughter and nephew. They loved it! However, I think they got a bit carried away with the paints. The bread was so saturated and soggy that toasting it didn't really work. :)
We just did this as part of our Easter lunch (we're doing our family hunt, coloring eggs, etc. today), and it was fun having Easter looking toast to have our hard boiled eggs with!

I love it! I can't wait until "lunch" today! How fun.
Incredible edible art!
Cute idea! I'll have to try that tomorrow.
What fun! Did the design stay when it's toasted? I'm going to do this one tomorrow...
The colors actually brightened when I toasted it!
